Hi All,
I recently purchased a used 1990 Justy motor complete, previous owner stated it ran great when removed from the previous vehicle (wrecked) and had 90k miles on it, 5 speed, etc. It appears to be a decent engine and I plan to put it in my 1990, 4 Dr GL, 5 speed, 4wd, soon to replace the locked-up engine in it. I have a list of things I plan to do and would like feedback, specifically what am I forgetting to do? See below
Used Justy engine start-up checklist
• compression test dry, then with oil
• remove oil pan, inspect components, replace gasket, filter, etc.
• inspect oil pump
• inspect water pump
• inspect throw-out bearing
• replace thermostat
• inspect and test alternator, replace belt
• replace timing belt
• inspect all hoses, replace as necessary
•
Questions:
• are there any bolts I should re-torque? head bolts, etc.
• can the old engine be pulled by itself? I think I read here on the forum its best to remove with the tranny
• anyone have any other tips and tricks?
Thanks in advance for your input, you have all been really helpful and saved me a lot of time and I appreciate that. Tyler
