Right now my 88 Justy is my daily driver. Coming this spring I'm going to be removing her trans for a rebuild and her engine is coming completely apart and getting a good overdue cleaning. Now, I want to get her an independant trottle body, but, I dont know where to start. What would be a good system to use? Is this even possible to find her an ITB?

Now, I want to get her an independant trottle body, but, I dont know where to start. What would be a good system to use? Is this even possible to find her an ITB? I have been considering this for years. Since there is no factory TBI system for a 3 cylinder that I know of, at least in the US, you're probably looking at something like a Megasquirt engine management platform. As far as hardware, I was planning on adapting a TBI from a 1.8L SPFI Subaru Loyale. The carbed version of the Loyale/ea82 shares the same intake manifold base gasket pattern as the carbed Justy. The SPFI intake manifold is slightly different, but I figured it would be the closest I could hope for, and the injector should be sized close enough to work as-is or at least work as a good starting point. To my knowledge this has not been done yet and I am not going to get around to it anytime soon. I may even just Weber mine instead. Please keep us updated on your progress if you go the TBI route.

See that is what I figured..... That I would have to rig something together. But, I still think its worth the try and effort. But, now knowing that is will be a difficult project I'm sorta looking forward to it more. but, it now means I have a basic idea and a start to some researching. Hopefully by spring I will have a good idea and been able to track another subaru loyale(a friend of mine has one)

Wait you two, are you talking about the same thing? Urielveil, do you want Independent throttle body system Ie three throttles, or a SPFI single port fuel injection where you don't need a fuel rail? Ferox I believe is talking about SFPI, which is nice because it's fuel injection without a ton of injectors and manifold work. In essence it's a totally computer controlled carb. I went down the ITB route, but ended up going carbs, because I didn't want to mess with megasquirt yet. There are good Throttle bodies out there, and of course bike stuff is the current craze. You could look at cutting up the ITB from an AE-86 Toyota, or go looking for ITBs for a V6... Have a look here... I'm still not sorted but getting there. I should theoretically make 100hp, maybe a bit more. with my set-up. subarujusty.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rally&action=display&thread=2915&page=2Matt

The non turbo G10 Sprint/Firefly/Metro engines from the late 80's and early 90's are TBI, and they are 3 cylinders.

Maybe someday I finish this project. These throttle bodies are from Triumph 955cc bike engine.

Wow.... You guys have some awesome ideas. Madmatt, I am talking about three throttles, not injection.
