I have a 1989 Justy which is making a slight knocking noise and vibration when it is in 4wd. Checked out the propshaft and one of the u-joints is failing. Is it feasible to remove the propshaft for repair and continue to use the car in 2wd only? Thanks for your help!

The back end of my transmission is closed off and I'm without 4X4 capability: , all due to a broken prop shaft. I've never yet had my 4X4 function working and removed the switch before ever pressing it. -Danimal
