i keep hearing a clicking noise from what sounds like the glovebox? The engine is running poor, and my check engine light is on. 1988 carb'd
what you guys think?

There's a solenoid on the upper firewall just to the passenger side that sometimes gets moisture in the connector and freaks out, makes the noise you're talking about. Disconnect it, blow it out with compressed air (or if you're roadside just blow as hard as you can with your mouth into it to dry it out) and then reconnect it. If the clicking goes away then you hit the nail on the head. Take it apart again, squeeze a little dialectic grease into it and reconnect. You won't have that problem any more. It is too farcleing wet, cold and dark outside for me to go take pix of it so you'll have to wait until tomorrow.

i tried looking around for it but i dont know what to look for. is it on the outside portion of firewall? thats where i was looking. thanks for responding by the way!

My '88 has the click sound too. It only happens after about 1 minute of the engine running then will not do it again until next re-start. My theory is some type of solenoid that opens after the engine gets to a certain temp. I can't notice any change in idle or anything else. It comes from behind the glove box somewhere.
