So since we are in Israel, the Odometer is in Kilometers. But what is wierd is that it goes up to only 99,000 km? Which means I really have no idea how many "miles" are on the car.

In my trunk I keep 20 Liters of water and my civilian gas mask, a little different from the shovel and kitty litter I had in mine 91 Subaru Loyal 4wd, when I lived in Maine.

So someone did some weird wiring, including installing a push button starter, here are some fuses hanging from the fuse panel, but they are really hot! Any ideas why?

The engine, makes a ticking noise from the alternator side, she idols slightly erratically. I have to wonder about the condition of the oil pump, timing chain, head and fuel injectors.
I probably will not be putting a super-charger and blower, but I would like to maybe rebuild the head and keep her running for a few more years.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks

The ticking noise is most likely the balance shaft chain. A common problem with Justys is a worn out chain guide.
Hows your oil pressure? That is the best indicator of how healthy your engine is.
Those fuses are pretty sketchy, I'd do something about that if I were you. They are most likely hot because there is to much current running through them.
Congrats on your purchase and good luck. Dave

thanks Dave, I do not have an oil pressure gauge, yet. I have wheel bearing parts from Dusty Justy coming soon. hmm, I wonder where the hot fuse wires come from?
How do I inspect the chain guide?

There is not really a good way I can think of to inspect the chain. The best way would be to take the front cover off but that's quite a project.
You might be able to get away with just taking the oil pan off, but even that requires removing the support under the motor and the exhaust.
Anyways, you need to get a good look at it to see how worn the guide is and how loose the chain is.
It's also important to note that this is not a timing chain. It drives the water pump, oil pump, and balance shaft.
Timing of the motor is done with a belt that should probably be changed if you don't know when it was done last.

Dave, I think at some point the engine needs to come out and sit in my kitchen for a few days, I rebuilt a '77 450 Honda Engine once and a diesel Marine engine in school, but getting parts is hard, and I only have one car. My wheel bearings I ordered from www.dustysjustys.com/ arrived in NY from Japan now they have to get to me in Israel. I calculated the fuel mileage converting kilometers to miles and liters to gallons and I think I am only getting around 23 mpg?! this is s great forum, the advice and other post have been very informative.
