I have a 90 Justy with the efi 1.2. When its cold or hasnt been started for awhile it takes alot to start it. I floor it or pump the gas for it to choke to life, then it smooths out from gettin fouled up from all the gas and runs good. I know its efi and i shouldnt have to pump it but if i dont it just turns and turns. Any ideas what would help??

or clogged fuel filter (cheaper to replace than the pump!)

If it was either of those wouldnt it restrict fuel flow all the time or higher rpms where more fuel is demanded??

Dirty injectors, or a combo of all of the above. The air filter may need to be changed and while you are at it the throttle body might need a good cleaning.

new thought: mine had a loose connection on the crank position sensor (the wires coming from the back of the distributor) that was causing a miss. once in a while it would be really hard to start. after i fixed the nearly cut wires it's been starting at the first spin of the crank bottom line is you need: - compression - fuel - spark to get the car started. one of the above isn't working for you
