I just picked up another parts car today and it was only 45 minutes away from home. I had to give $200 for it which was more than I wanted to spend considering there isn't a single usable body panel on it. Well, except for the gas door! It dose have a good windshield which I need. The motor runs great and even the A/C works! I was told the tranny is going bad but after driving it and pulling the codes from the ECVT controller I'm pretty sure all it needs is a fresh set of clutch brushes. I'll try to work on it this weekend. I could fix it and drive it but due to the amount of rust underneath I think it would best serve as a parts car to keep my rust free Justy's going.

Well I finally got the white beast all cleaned up under the hood and swapped out the clutch brushes. It works like a champ now! I did notice the familiar sound of worn crank bearings and a worn out balance shaft chain. But since there's no hole in the block (yet) it should be repairable. With 185,000 miles, somethings going to be wore out!

Can you describe the "familiar sounds" of worn crank bearings and a worn out balance shaft chain? Possibly post a video with sound?
Just wondering what those are, and what to look out for.
Thanks

I don't think an audio recording would capture the sounds accurately. The rod bearings can be heard when abruptly applying throttle and then letting off. Kind of a sharp metallic sound upon letting off. The chain is most noticeable at idle. Mostly a horrible thrashing, mechanical sound coming from the front cover area.
Some heavier oil should quiet this thing down a little, but I probably shouldn't drive it too much. It would be great if I could get one winter out of it before parting it out. The body is already rusty so a little more salt bath isn't going to matter to me.
