So today, I was 2x4ing the Justy( 4WD doesn't work ) And I hit a rock that was sticking up and it ripped the sway bar half off. So I was wondering, do I NEED to have it on? Does it really make a difference? I would rather leave it off, as I don't want to rip it off 4x4ing again when I get the 4WD issue(s) sorted out.

Thanks, I guess I'll finish what the rock started.

*SsynthetikDarkness** sorry for the late reply, been on planes for days... sheesh...
The sway bar is really to improve handling on the pavement, although most people will never notice it's benefit till they have a few passengers on a curvy road.
Removing the sway bar should actually improve 4x4 handling, as it would allow the suspension to track "full travel" independently.

Yep - RRJ is right, no swaybar will allow the suspension to travel more freely. From my experience though, there is a pretty big difference in cornering grip and body roll with or without the sway bars. After back-to-back drives up/down CA HWY 1 in my '93 2WD DL vs my old '91 4x4 GL they are both wicked fun and the '93 is quicker as well as better on gas but the '91 GL corners much flatter and feels far more confident in the turns. The cars are different as one is 4WD and one is 2WD but they are both running Bridgestone Potenza RE-92 tires in 165/65 with similar tread-wear so I feel it was at least a "good" comparison.
The DL has no rear sway bar but the GL does. I do not know if the front swaybar sizes are different between the cars but these specific cars - the swaybar bushings on the '93 are pretty much gone and the bushings on the '91 are newly replaced. The oil leaks on both cars (I believe) is what has ruined the bushings. I replaced the bushings on the '91 when I did a bunch of other work on it.
Anyway, I found it interesting to drive the two cars - a week each and then switching back every other day. My drive is pretty fun on a couple different twisty roads, so it was really neat to note the differences. I probably would not have noticed any difference at all if it were all city and/or freeway.

If you regularly drive your Justy in a manner that would rip off the anti-sway bar, then you should probably just leave it off. If you leave it off, it will reduce understeer but increase body-roll. Keep in mind though that there really isn't much in the way of cross bracing in the front of the Justy which is already pretty much made out of tin. Also keep in mind that Fuji put it there for a reason.
If you do mostly street driving, repair what you need to and reinstall. I prefer the anti-sway bar because I like better cornering on pavement, to the point that I installed a rear sway bar on my Gen 1 as well. If you want to redo your bar, myself and others on here have parts for you.

Thanks for the input everyone. I thought about putting it back on as driving is my job, how ever I'll probably just buy a new car for that, I don't like beating on the Justy that much.

Mine tore out of the end-link side on the a-arm (the usual place). Time to weld or remove, it makes awful banging noises when the dangling end-link catches something. I think since winter is here.......reeeeeemoval time!!

If you plan to repair I would suggest a couple fender washers to reinforce on either side. This is how I repaired mine and it hasn't failed me yet, tho I don't drive like a maniac.
