When I have my 4wd engaged, it is very difficult to shift. Especially from 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd. The system will engage and disengage just fine, and when its in 2wd the transmission shift wonderfully without any grinding. I have recently drained/refilled the transmission with Pennzoil Synchromesh gear oil. And the shifting got a little easier while in 4wd but not by much. So what I have been doing is just disengaging and re-engaging when I want to shift. But winter is coming and I dont want to have to dick with that while trying to drive in the snow. Anyone have any ideas/advice. I appreciate it

This may not apply to Justy's but with some 4WD vehicles (such as Jeeps) a condition called 'wind-up' occurs when driving on hard surface roads. Driving on ice, snow, and loose or bumpy gravel roads allows the wheels to 'slip' and loosen the wind-up in the gear train. Dick C.

Well you hit the nail on the head.
I went up to Beaver Lodge today. They have about 5-6" up there and I was driving around in the snow and sure enough it was alot easier to shift. I was trying it on dirt before. That must not have been a unstable enough surface.
And, I was pleasantly surprised at how well it did in the snow. I was amazed.
