I will preface this by saying that trying to search for "oil", "pan", and "RTV" comes back with nada because the proboards search engine throws out all words under four letters.
SO, what works best for resealing the Justy Oil Pan after you take it off? I know there's a metal "gasket" that you put RTV on both sides of? Mine has some red stuff and it's leaking.
Anything strange in the way of getting all the bolts and the pan off?
Thoughts, tips, tricks?
I hate going to the auto parts store mid project.
Thanks.

Ultra Red or Ultra Black, Both work well... No real trick other than the sealer is holding it on, might have to gently pry on it.. Make sure all surfaces are operating room clean and dry, thin coat on all surfaces, tap with finger to raise spikes, wait till tacky, and after you have flatened the bolt holes on the pan bolt it back on torqueing in a criss-cross pattern and viola, no more leaks... I have had great results using this method... Good luck...

Cool. Are you saying that the pan gets distorted and needs to be bent back? Not sure about the bolt holes bit...

Yes, if anyone in the past has over-tightened the bolts the holes might be dimpled a bit. Tap them flat with a small hammer and you are good to go...

Thanks. I will try and take some pics of the process. Might be awhile until I get to that, though.

I would use "Subi-Bond" which is the Subaru branded oil pan goop. I have a tube because I just did my Impreza oil pan. There should be enough to do a fleet of Justys left over. I will send it to you if you will send it back when you are done. I capped it quickly when I was done so it should be okay, but I will check it next time out in the garage. If you want to give it a try, just PM me a shipping address and I will get it out tomorrow.
