ok heres the deal. I had replaced my headgasket in the '88 justy 2wd a while back and tonight I finally got around to buttoning things up and trying to start it. I think the timing was off because it was spitting gas out the carb, and not even hitting. after a few tries at adjusting the timing with no results I have decided to ask for help in timing the damn thing. Also after a few tries the starter made a sort of grinding noise as it slowed down, it didnt sound like the battery was going dead, but sounded almost mechanical.. i didnt think much of it and adjusted the timing again, and now the starter wont even click..with my hand on the solinoid when someone hits the key I feel nothing....has anyone had a problem like this before?? what happened, could it be a wire, or is my starter shot?? also if anyone has any idea on how to set the timing on this thing, please respond to this post, because I am getting way too frustrated with this thing...
thanx

Got to be sure not too crank a starter for too long (30-45 seconds max) and let it cool off for a few minutes between. What part of the timing are you concerned with, did you get the pulleys all lined up right? If not, I can check the manual for the correct alignment of these and let you know.
