I have been through every post in the suspension section!! so Iam trying to find rear shocks like every one else and have been doing some searching, but cant fint stock spec for rear shocks( hight , travel, diameter of casing ECT.) i think i found some mazda 323 rear shocks that seem pretty close, but if some one has a set of rear shocks laying around that they could measure and let me know that would help alot!!!

I am sure you saw some of my posts in that mess as well. I have a complete spare suspension in my garage which I intend to fully measure, but I have not had the time to do that yet. I am looking to come up with inside/outside diameter of the shock body, length (extended and compressed). If there are other dimensions that would be good to know - let me know! I'll get it out this weekend and see if I can take apart the rears enough to get some good measurements. I am planning to find someone that can rebuild them as I don't know any other option at this point. Until then, I am going to go ahead and get a set of fronts from dusty's justy's. They are almost 2x the price of what I paid for my last set from a Subaru dealer, but the dealers are all out so I am glad to pay the premium!!

yes i read your thread, you sound like you know your way around a garage ;D as do I I am not afraid to cut and weld to make a more common shock work.I just need basic dimensions , make sure to messure the circumfrence of the shock. the spring messurement would be great also, I think the height is 7 or 8 inches but dont have the diameter.

Cool - it may take some time but I will get the measurements. One of the closest matches I have seen for the rears is the '88-'91 Civic hatchback rear struts. Seems like if you could knock off the bottom mount and fab up a simple Justy-like mount, the top would be easy and worst-case you could modify the Honda top-hat to work. Rear springs will be pretty easy, but just got to find a few pieces. Those "weight jacks" have been really hard to find. But basically you got it. My best preference would be an "off the shelf" insert that I could fit into a Justy housing since they are a little specific. I'll post back when I get the measurements.

funny you should mention civics, thats my my back up plan, i work alot with crxs and i just cut the rear mounting points out and wel them into a justy pretty easy, just add a collar up top to adjust for the taller shock, and if i could do some thing similar up front then not only would you have super easy parts to replace, but man could you take some jumps with all the extra suspension travel!

I have heard that VW Golf MK1 front shocks can be modified to fit. You just have to cut spring cup away.
