hey there justy fans I'm the new justy owner on the block I have 1988 4wd justy. When it idles it is rough. when I push the gas pedal slowly it will rev to about 3000 rpm then spit sputter and backfire. If it makes it above 3000 it will rev like normal to 6000. but if it falls below it is the same story all over again. I have replace all the vacum lines one by one and gave it a tune up. Still no change it does smell very rich during these problems. If no one has an idea whats wrong with it is there a direct bolt on weber? Thanks sparker

I was getting this problem too when the fuel tank was nearing the empty mark. It was most noticeable from a standing start.
Furst I thought it was fuel sloshing in the tank and the pump taking in air. but then the problem started to get worse, ie not just near the empty mark.
I started putting in water remover dditive on every fill up. The problem improved dramatically.
Your problem doesn't sound exactly like my problem. But just in case you might condsider that there is water in the tank.

i had a problem with timing, it turned out to be a dodgy wire in the distributor - revved bad under 4k rpm, but fine up at 6 and in reverse (i dont get it either). i also had similar issue in my old carbed justy but it was always to do with knackered ht leads or spark plugs (i went through 4 sets in a year). im guessing you havnt replaced them yet, but if you have i dont know...maybe a carb tune up is needed?

The distributor will change the ignition timing up until 4k RPM. After 4k it'll have a "last" value for all revs. So it seems your distributors ignition timing correction was faulty...
