Ok, so I ran a compression test on my 91 Justy and #2 cylinder is only reading 60PSI (#1 & #3 are at 135psi). I performed a "wet test" and compression only went up by about 10psi so I'm suspecting a burnt valve.
After reading all the posts about the Justy's oil pump issues and wearing connecting rod bearings, I figure I may as well replace those whilst I fix it.
Here is my list of repairs: * Head/valves to be reconditioned at a local machine shop * Replace main bearings & connecting rod bearings * Replace oil pump assembly * New Rings, head bolts & complete gasket set * Replace timing belt
So here are my questions:
1) Do I need to replace the balancer chain & guide?
2) I'm not sure of this Justy's history, so I'm wondering if Subaru stamp their bearings & pistons with "standard"? If not, how will I tell if it has already been bored out?
3) The Subaru guy said that there were "Green" & "Black" main bearings listed. How do I know which ones I need?
I've ordered the gasket set & oil pump assembly from Subaru. Suprisingly, they were cheaper than the local Auto Parts stores. I will be buying aftermarket bearings though, since the Subaru ones were expensive.
Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated! This will be my first major engine overhaul so any feedback would be useful.

I have never re-built my justy engine, just wrenched on it, and replaced the head-gasket. I have however rebuilt a few other engines.. my best advice would be CLEAN.. clean everything, clean it twice more to be sure, when your working with the inside of an engine make sure that you dont introduce any forieghn stuff into it, ie: dirt, debris, metal shavings, etc..
Aside from that I would recomend picking up a haynes, or Chiltons manual, for the step by steps, thats what most people I know do..
