What are our options for just stock-like shocks/struts???
I'm not looking for performance/race style, just something cheap
Thanks-Adam

Bump. I'm looking for same, but don't want to dish out the 170/per from dustys.
Anyone know of a source other than a pullapart or parter?

No, a boxer will not fit in a Justy.

Dusty Bennett is only charging $140-$150. Half the price of the dealership.

Unfortunately, or anyway I was told, that I bought the last set of these from Subaru a few years ago. They came from a few different places and took forever, but they were around $80 each if I remember right. Pretty awesome that Dusty's is offering them again, no idea how he's doing that.

I'm very seriously considering cutting the struts open and adapting an insert to replace the internals. I don't know yet what insert will be the best fit and I want to find a used set of dead struts to do this to so as I can keep driving my Justy. That was my plan as well, but I cannot seem to find anyone that can help me find inserts that will work. No one seems to want to measure a set or go beyond looking in a catalog and saying "Nope, nothing for a Justy." I have left my spare suspension with 3 shops so far.

Tgy contacting some shock mfgs directly, especially if you have any information (ie dimensions). Some of them can be surprisingly helpful.

Ditto to nipper.
I looked over a Koni install guide. You drill a hole in the bottom of the strut, cut the top off, pull out the old insert, wedge the new insert in (interference fit) and draw it all the way down by threading a bolt on a stud on the stock strut bottom, through where you drilled the hole.
Kind of confusing, but really simple.
Point being, you need to know a few things:
-Overall length of the Justy strut. -Inside diameter of the strut body. -Probably some type of idea of weight of car/weight distribution, etc.
You could likely look up a strut based on those dimensions.
For example; My buddy has a Tercel 4WD wagon that we put load leveling air shocks on. Some Tercel4WD forum guy figured out that the listed application is for a 50's Chevy of some sort. He started with the dimensions, and found the holy part # from there.
I'd look into it if I had a spare strut to cut up...
