when i turn on my front wipers to the intermittent setting, they dont always work. sometimes i hear the relay click and the wipers move like....1/3rd of the way and immediately i hear another click and they go a full cycle. they work fine on any other setting but what im wondering is, is this a relay issue or an ECM issue?

This could be a few things. It can be the switch (ild look there first). I doubt it is the relay/timer (all the electronics are in one little black box). Everything grounds through the switch. It would be easy enough to trace it backwards.

**streetruler**, if the wipers work as expected when switched into lo and hi, then I would not suspect any fault with grounds, fuses, wiring, or the wiper motor assembly. Leaving you with the combo-switch or the Int/Wiper control module. The washer also activates the interval control module. If the wipers come on when you press the washer (for about a second on my car) then the module is working fine. A bad contact in the combination switch is my best guess by your description (I second **nipper**). Here is the schematic I have for this system: -RRJ
