I still think it is ellagntly simple Hey Nipper, It is, and it's not as costly to produce as conventional transmissions. One reason CVT is being put into a lot of stuff is the cost. I believe Subaru went to a torque converter in the new stuff. Tho, the bottom line with CVT is the torque rating, as to what it can be used in. That magnetic clutch...well it had/has people confused. And there's the maintenance with brush replacement. And there's the way it "acts" lol. You can use it like a high stall converter. Doug
