Hi there, sorry but I do not have complete make and model details, but could we generalise.
2 door justy - about 10 yrs old - lowish mileage 60.000.
Car driven off from overnight parking - head a screeching noise from rear of car, after about one mile had to stop, as it did not go away. Called RAC, who drove car for a short distance - suggested noise coming from rear of car - possibly diff!!!
Took car to garage - who drove car and suggested diff.
They drained rear diff - expecting to find metal filelings in oil - none found.
They refilled diff and checked driveshaft bearing for play check driveshafts and wheel bearing - did not take anything off - just gave it a shake sort of thing.
Vehicle has been driven about 2 miles since and is not makeing the noise at the moment.
Is this screeching from the rear a commom problem - if so what is the usual cause and what part might it be.
Many thank
Steve

Well Ms. Steve, since you say the car is about ten years old and we don't know in which country you reside, I suspect this might not actually be a Subaru. Could you please inform us as to whereabout you live and tell us for certain the model year of your vehicle and/or a photograph of said vehicle, please?

Hi there, thankyou for your reply, of coarse it is a subaru ;D ;D ;D - why would I waste my time registering on a Justy Forum and post a problem if it was not. Oh!! I live in South England by the way - right close to Stonehenge. The justy is my nieces, only had it 6 months as her first car....and she loves it!!!! I also subscribe to a VW Golf forum - as funny enough - I have a Mk !! golf. The golf forum is great - as I'm sure this one is - post any prob' you have on there and they fall over themselves to sort it out - even if you not sure of all the details - they try to help. I will get the make and model off my niece, but in the mean time have you any ideas - have you any knowledge of this sort of problem happening to "ANY" 4x4 small engine justy's. Many thanks Steve

There are other forums for those owners; look under suzuki swift. Justy page at Wikipedia will help you determine what type Justy you have. stacks BUT IT IS A SUBARROW.....honest | it has a proppa subaru badge an all!!! It is a propa' 4x4, 1.3litter, british S - reg 1998, 3 door hatchback and it is a GX model. With these details can you say if rear diff probs' are common. Many thanks Steve stacks[/quote]

moonrakermagpie, two things: - Right next to the button you use to post, you know the one that says Post Reply, there is a button that says Preview. Please use this Preview button to make sure your post looks as you intend. Your quote and new text are all mixed up together and probably not how you intended it. You can also use the Modify button in your post to make corrections to it after the fact. That's what it is there for.
- Please listen carefully to Stacks because he is very knowledgeable about Justys and he is usually right. If you have a Justy in the United Kingdom model year 1998, it is not a genuine Subaru. What we believe you have is a rebadged Suzuki Swift. If you post a photograph of your car we can all give you further confirmation. Please use Stacks' advice about finding more model specific information from Suzuki groups online.

A Subarrow? And yes, not sure why SJ did not correct you, or Stacks for that matter, but Stacks is right. True Justy's are from what, 1987? Well anyways, they stopped in 1994, and on top of that, we only have DL's and GL's. And Maynard, I have never thought of that, makes me a lil more paranoid though hahaha

Well, we have Dls, GLs, RSs and Fun Justys, but functionally they all act as a DL or GL.

OK, nevermind then. I guess you figured out how to fix it already Hi guys, thank you all for your replies, sorry about the muddled up post and more sorry to SeattleJusty ....I hope I did not come across as an arse, I did not intend it that way . Thing is, it is my niece's first car and she loves it, she told me it was a subaru justy as that is what it says on the car and on the vehicle docs, so I believed her. I hear what you are saying, and will get her to let me have a picture and will be back. Many thanks Steve
