I'm having a hard time finding the combo I'm looking for (5door 4WD automatic) So I was wondering if the frames are the same. Are all frames from 87-94 the same? Are 4WD frames the same as FWD frames? 3door the same as 5door?
Example:
If I find a nice 88 4WD frame, 90 5door body and, 94 auto trans. Can they be put together without cutting/welding?

Letls be clear that the Justy is a unit-body construction (unibody) and has a one piece body and chassis. There is no seperate frame from the body such as those found on old American cars and pickup trucks. Having said that I can tell you that there are some small differences in the bodies between Gen1 and Gen2. I know from experience that the bumpers are not interchangable between Gens 1 and 2 and this renders the grill and headlamps non-interchangeable. I guess that would make the bonnet & wings (hood & fenders) also non-interchangable. The Gen2 has a higher roofline and specific tail lamps that would make the hatch non-interchangable. The Gen2 has some uprated suspension components and a slower steering rack. Many suspension and mechanical items are updatable and backdatable. What'd I leave out guys?

So your saying as long as all the parts are from a 89-94 they are interchangeable?

If I find a nice 88 4WD frame, 90 5door body and, 94 auto trans. Can they be put together without cutting/welding? Yes. minus the 90 5 door body part. All mechanicals ( suspension, brakes, engine, steering) will fit in any model. as long as you stay 4wd. You will be able to put a 94 auto tarns provided its 4wd into an 88 shell. Not sure, but i believe you must take the rear diff with the 94 auto trans.Sorry misread the question. The justys are unibody. therefore no frames. As stated by seattle justy. The only difference between the differnt years is if it is 2wd or 4wd. If the unibody is 2wd you will need some minor fabrication to make it 4wd. Specific to your situation you can put the tranny in either body, the 88 or the 90, provided they are already 4wd.

Not exactly... 89 was the conversion year. Depending on the month it was built. Early 89s will have GenII body style with some GenI parts. Later 89s will be all Gen II. Stacks... I had an early 89 that was F/I, I have long since sold it but I believe it was built in March 89. Seemed strange to me at the time but it ran great and I drove it for two years before selling it for twice what I paid. Hmm, a conversion I wonder.

I was reading about how some years where mixed depending on the month it was made. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justy

It would be nice to know what parts you have that you're trying to mate to the 90 5 door. I can tell you my 2dr FWD 89 has the threaded hard points underneath for the 4WD propeller shaft center bearing mount and for the front support bar for a rear 4WD differential. I recently cleaned the undercoating out of the holes, cleared the threads of excess debris and screwed bolts with washers into all four points (8mm x 1.25 threads). Some day my FWD will be 4WD!
