Anyone know what engines would be compatible with the justy gearbox and drive ? Thinking maybe suzuki or honda, I could do with more oomph.

If you swap out the engine, you will have to swap out the gearbox and driveline too. Sorry to disappoint you.

i'll have to agree.
I don't really think it's possible.
Plus..there really isn't a hole hell of alot of room in there. You can barely get the motor and tranny separated in the car.
The only motor i could see going in, with ALOT of work would be a Subaru 4-cylinder.
Once my car kicks the bucket, i'll prolly break out the welder, and the cutting torches and get to doing that

The boxer engines are horizontally opposed(front-to-back while the justy motors are horizontal(side-to-side). So technically it would be impossible to get the 4 cylider engines in our justys as the firewall is too far forward. There is no way my forester's motor could ever fit in my justy without the dash being where the front seats currently are.

I'm not bothered, about it fitting back into the justy as I'll be transplanting the whole thing into a mini and turbo charging it. I can get 200bhp out of a 1293 cc A series mini engine, but want to go with the justy awd system, would be nice to mate it to a honda vtec and suzuki 16vavler. So if anyone knows of any compatable engine blocks that would be cool !

Why the Justy tranny then? Why not look at a celica all-track drive line if your talking that much HP, then you could use the the 4SGTE and get 600 hp!

I still think that a Mazda 323 GTX 4x4 gearbox from 1986 to 1989 would fit into a Justy. I don't know if the 1.6l would fit... but I have one of those that puts out 240+ bhp... and the GTX isn't that much longer than a Justy... hmm???

The engine's out...bring the spare tranny...I'll buy a tank of propane. Then I'll kick the Land Rover out of the garage...dim the lights... We will mate the two and see if it is plausible. I'm just worried about engine/trans mounts, custom C/V's, and driveshaft concerns. It just seems a LSD is a cheaper alternative. Matthew

Matthew would that I could... but I don't have the spare put together yet. Slacker I know... and you are probably correct that a LSD would be a cheaper... easier solution. We really need to check out that diff on your gearbox.
