while getting the tranny outa my 1988 just i broke the plastic hose mount off of a small silenoid looking device mounted on the firewall. This thing is just above the engine mount on the firewall, and is connected to the wiring harness. It activates somthing on the carb, but i can't tell what exactly it does. My Question is. can i just plug the open vacum lines and go on my way, or won't it work?

Probably the idle up solenoid. I broke this plastic stub off a couple of times. It's purpose is to slightly increase the idle (by about 100-200rpm) when certain "high load" electrical devices such as headlights, fan, etc are on. I got around this by slightly increasing the regular idle. Although on my carb'd 88 the idle is so erratic it's hard to tell the difference.
