06/89 GL with 144900 miles. subarujusty.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wanted&action=display&thread=2566It does indeed drive like it was towed most of it's life, smooth and not rattly in any way (sans the toast exhaust). ^To illustrate the cleanliness of the paint ;D ^Not a coverup! The seats are in REALLY good shape underneath.. However it does have its share of problems, the exhaust is rotted out(sounds cool), front fenders are beginning their rustification, a #14 trouble code(which is?), the 4wd lights dont...ummm....light, early signs of balljoint trouble on right side, and a slight oil leak around the distributor(mating surfaces to the head??) All in all, its surprisingly fast for what it is, and I cant wait for winter to come! A curious question? Is first gear straight cut, or are synchros burnt After I fix the main problem areas: Oil pressure gauge, Sony H/U going in, with all the "supporting cast" to go with it...hehe. All in all, I am way excited to get to know my Justy, and share in the future stories around the fireplace Cheers! -JP

Glad to see that you've been Justy'd! Code 14 may be the duty solenoid? Sometimes this link isn't much help. www.troublecodes.net/Subaru/Anyone else have any idea? Great little car! -Danimal

Are they actually helical or are they just angle cut?

Are you joking or just being pedantic? Helical gears are angle cut. stacks Woops, I thought you meant spiral bevel. I got my wires crossed and was thinking helical were like those found on a crown wheel but that would actually be called hypoid, not helical. Carry on.

What would the symptoms of doody solenoid failure? I have a pretty low idle, and some trouble starting the car when warm, rectified by engaging the choke (ie starvation).
