I'm doing my justy for a project over the next month at school for auto body and a thought just popped in my head, flare out the lip over the wheel well on the quarter panels. I'm just trying to think of a good way to fabricate fat lips. I'm thinking of cutting crescents from sheet metal and bending a lip or finding something with a similar radius from a junk yard thats already what i want and just tack welding them on them on and going over it with bondo. any ideas?

Sounds Fun... ;D There is some flare discussion on the boards here at: tinyurl.com/2qnh44Then there's always this project!! : tinyurl.com/35jjr3If doing the junkyard commando, metal to metal way, forget about quarterpanel chops- front fenders seem easier to pull off... then you can measure and cut later at the shop. t y , ill keep you informed. ill have all the pics when im done. sry about that but i dont have a digital camera or nothing so ill develop the camera when im done. by the way i saw that greeeen justy on car domain to day that must have taken a loooong time.
today i sand blasted the lower corner of the drivers side quarter, it was REAL bad its praticly paper thin. no ones going to see it anyway behide the bumper when its put back on so i might just EZ-glass it.
tomarrow ill take off the doors and strip off the rust with the blaster and the minor rust in the jams, along with the frt and rear bumper brackets.
this weekend ill take a look in some junkyards for the flares
ill keep u updated.

I don't know what equipment you have at your school shop, however I was thinking of doing the same with my Justy. I have some spare motorcycle fenders sitting around that I fabbed using the english wheel at my old school. I'm thinking of just cutting each fender down the center and using them as fender flares for the justy, should look good. But yea, if you have an english wheel and you have enough skill to make a motorcycle fender, thats probably a great way to do it. I also made some sweet custom body parts for my teacher's VW micro-bus in that shop class with the wheel.

i might aswell scratch the whole idea, becuase im a senior i get out early i have to be done with the project in 2 weeks so i dont have time to do anything drastic. I found a company that makes the rear quarter arches, Sherman's and yesterday i talked to the guy up a Carquest, he said he could order them but today i go up there again and says theyve bin discontinued so im like wtf, lol how could they just go away in a day. Oh well, i talked to Sherman's directly and said they'll see if there is any left. i got my fingers crossed

Let's see those pics ;D... There's reuseable Digital Camera at Rite Aid for $9.99. Have the school pay for it.
