Hmm, should be struts on the front as far as I know. I have an RS that I picked up for parts, and I believe it had struts on the front.

rstar, The OEM '89 Manual states McPherson strut type, Independent - Front & Back... Checks out upon inspection... What are you thinking of with this? ... custom/adapted strut configuration!?! Kanpai, #891989 Subaru JUSTY RS 4WD 122, 299 miles

Not to nit-pick but I just wanna call technical error on the tech-writer that Fuji hired to write the manuals for Subaru. Technically speaking, the rear struts wouldn't be called McPherson-struts but rather Chapman-struts. This is because they do not pivot, acting as a component for steering. Just some nerdy details for everyone.

I know I read somewhere on this board a long while back about someone who drilled a hole on top of the rear struts and filled them with a fluid. Then screwed a self tapping bolt in to seal it. Does anyone remember this? I was wondering if this would work to eliminate squeek and what size hole and fluid to use.
