Hi guys, I'm new to this forum so please be gentle with me.
I'm from the UK and my son has recently bought a 1996 1.3 4wd Justy, he's almost as mechanically inept as I am! Neither of us have ever had a 4wd.
He's recently noticed a speed related knocking coming from the rear, sounds like its coming from what I'd describe as the differential, what looks and smells like gearbox oil has started leaking from the diff as well.
Any thoughts on where to start looking for the problem would be appreciated together with any hints and tips on how easy or not it is to take the rear driveshafts out etc etc. Is this a common problem, is it likely to be the diff or the driveshafts or something even more sinister?
The problem I seem to be finding as well is there doesn't seem to be many of these around in the UK so any help in tracking ones down in scrap yards in the South West of the UK would also be appreciated.
Sorry for sounding a bit vague and a bit dim but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation
Andy

No, wait... Find an error in ANY previous post of mine and I'll change my signature to anything you like for 1 week per error! This offer is open to anyone but beware, this is not for the faint of heart! 421 posts of pure Justy could very well blow yer mind! stacks Hey Andy, Welcome to the forum, lots a good info here. Maybe you can tell us all why UK has 96 justys? They're 1.2 or 1198cc by the way. stacks I say the Justy's EF12 engine displaces 1190cc not "1198cc"Metric=0.0007854(number of cylinders)(bore²)(stroke)=1189.8ccImperial=0.7854(number of cylinders)(bore²)(stroke)=72.62CuIn72.62 X 16.387=1189.97cc Either way, not 1198cc I think the word "previous" just saved someone from certain humiliation.

I say the Justy's EF12 engine displaces 1190cc not "1198cc"My manual says 1,189cc, maybe I done a typo with 1,198. Either way the implied point was that we run 1.2L not 1.3L SJ, you can 'split hairs' if you like but that's really for lads that are actually machining parts! Besides, Sack the Stacks is over long time ago.....no responses stacks Takes one to know one I guess..... hair splitter! ;D

We all knew this by grade 5. Where's this .7854 or .0007854 comin from? stacks What are you trying to say Stacks? Did you bother to try the formula? It works on all cars not just Justy's, I promise.
