So I got this 135+ db airhorn for my justy, cause that's exactly what a little car like that needs ;D I'm trying to just remove the old horn and replace it with my new pump. But I don't know much about the wires. I need to know which is pos/neg, and where the ground is and whether it is a pos. or neg. ground.
Thanks, Joey

Post some pics. What drives the compressor? The just engine and drive belts or is it electric motor. Also does it have a air tank to hold the pressure or does it just pump up right away. Thanks.

It's just an electric air pump, no tank. All it needs is to be wired up. I figured I could use the wires that go to the existing horn, instead of running new ones. That way I don't have to use the relay that it came with, and it will just be a simple hook it up and go. Then i could use the same bracket that holds the existing horn for the pump. In all, it should be pretty simple, but I've been down that road before. The pump itself is roughly the size of a 12oz soda can, and there's two horns, (3x7" and 3x9", i think).
Thanks, Joey

Negative is kind of considered ground. Ground is also to the frame. So if the horn has a ground wire try to run that to the frame or unibody or anyplace not covered with paint, just so it can make contact with metal. Then if the horn has a positive and negative hookup I would probally run the darkest wire as negative and the lightest color as positive. I hope this helps out.

Well i just wanted to know because the horn came with a relay to hook up, and the instructions show two different ways to run the circuit depending on which was grounded. Thank you for your help

Well i just wanted to know because the horn came with a relay to hook up, and the instructions show two different ways to run the circuit depending on which was grounded. Thank you for your help Please use the relay, and use your stock horn wiring to actuate it!!! The air horn compressor draws enough amps that it may fry your stock wiring plus not work very well. New, good wires between the battery and relay, following the directions, and simply connect your stock horn wiring to the relay as shown (simple, but useful directions have come with all the Hella and Steibel kits I have installed). I am going to work on this too, as soon as I relocate my battery. I just saw Amazon has Hella's supertone kit for $33 now... Last one I put in was a Stiebel 140dB horn on my Honda motorcycle...
