Just wondering if there's some light that I'm missing. It's dark in the middle of the dash. Does the Justy have a backlit heater/fan control area?
My 1983 Land Cruiser has a light there, fer chrisssakes.
Let me know problem areas, if any, that I should address. Or do I have no bulb, or is interior stealth mode just another "feature" of the Justy?
Thanks,
Eric

Seriously? Does anyone have a light there? OR are all of ours burnt out or not there at all?
Guess I'll just tear the dash apart... might be quicker way to find out.
Oh, is there a glove box light too?

I replaced my duct cables awhile back on my 88 and don`t remember seeing a light. Now you`ve got me curious.

My '91 has a light for the heater controls but it only works when it feels like it.

Hmmm, I guess I really need to take a look at my 1990 justy.
If it doesn't have a light, I think I'll wire something in.
BUT! I'm learning to memorize the Justy dash controls. Not too many there to begin with though! Just kind of a pain in the dark.
Kind of unsafe too.

Eric, Yes, in my '94 Justy the heater/fan control is illuminated...not very brightly , but enough to see the controls at night. -Steve

Hey, so I took the knobs off the heater/vent controls and gently popped off the panel with all the heat/vent/fan speed info printed on it.
There is a bulb in there!
Anyone know what type it is? I can't read anything on it, looks like something was there, but it wore off.
Some type of ultra small bulb, but no more info.
Thanks.

just take the bulb to a parts store, they will be able to find one that fits.

Yea. Either that, or take the bulb with you into a parts store and match it up with one like it. It's a 12volt lamp, there will only be one match. I've replaced mine twice.. And it is still sketchy. I have to "gently tap" the heater controls to get the light to turn on, I'm assuming the socket it worn out or something. Also I have a few lights out in my gauge cluster. -Terry

Hey, so I bought a lightbulb today. It was a #2721 I think.
Anyways, I have dash lights now!

Yes it's a pretty standard bulb and both my Justy's have worked fine. It's exactly the same setup as in my Old Celicas, and the problem with them over time was heat from the bulb in that area killing it. Making some simple vents to let the hot air out made the bulbs last a lot longer. I am glad I saw this post because I need a better way to hook up my backlight in my tach...
