I have a big problem with vibration sounds from the gear stick. If I pull the stick up a bit it gets much better. Guess It's some bad bushings or something, but have anyone experienced the same problem and found a solution??

ultima, I'm trying to locate the exploded diagram of the shifter assembly and some pics for you... Basically seems to come down to a plastic ball, slide pin, and circlip/snap ring that hold the vertical shift rod to the horizontal linkage rods. From the several JUSTYs I've seen the circlip loosens from the linkage 'cup' and/or the slide pin sort of bores a bigger tunnel into the plastic ball... Before I figured this out, we were trying to brainstorm this prob here: subarujusty.proboards20.com/index.cgi?board=trouble&action=display&thread=1745and here: subarujusty.proboards20.com/index.cgi?board=trouble&action=display&thread=1758I bought and refurbed a 2wd assembly before realizing the 4WD was quite a bit different (linkage bars have different angles/bends). Thanks to Board Member: 'stacks'! - not sarcastic -the 2wd shifter was originally his and even though the wrong application, it turned out to be ultra helpful for me to take apart/rebuild in person! Not being able to source a new plastic ball right away, I, instead, drilled a hole in the linkage 'cup' and tapped threads into the bottom of the shifting rod to secure everything with a washer and bolt. Worked great, but unfortunately, only lasted for 350 miles. For the record, all the rubber bushings in the actual linkage seemed to be in very good shape. I've been able to put off disassembling the 4wd button and shifter/rod for the last 2,500 miles by use of a couple heavy duty wire ties around both horizontal linkage bars to remove excess vibration. No rattling since... Good Luck & Skill,

It could be the ball assembly but I really think it is the volcanized rubber bit below the shifter, under the car.
I had the very same problem. Can you pull up hard enough on the the shifter until it moves up and stays there? What I did was cut a piece of rubber and wired it in place. I can get a picture of it if you like.
This is what I wrote in a post a while back:
I no longer need that bracket for the shift linkage. I crawled under the car today and took a look. Managed to slice off a 3/8" thick piece of rubber from a chevy cab mount that made a 'donut' of rubber 3/8" thick and about 3" wide. Shoved it into the bracket under the shift linkage and wired it into place. BAM, all vibrations to the shifter are gone! If anyone is noticing an irritating vibration in their shifter, take a look underneath and see if the rubber bit hasn't become 'devolcanized'. A sure sign that you have this issue is if the vibration cuts down drastically when you pull up on the stick.

Guess I should have a look at the linkage, maybe take it out if I have time for that (drives the car to work). Thanks for the links

Mine vibrates in 2wd but not in 4wd. I believe it has to do with a worn engine mount. The engine moves less when there is torque applied to the driveshaft it would seem.

Before you take anything out or think that it's something major, I'd look at the rubber bit in the bracket directly under the shifter, underneath the car. I'm almost certain this is your issue. When the engine/tranny are under load the linkage slides down and vibrates because of the metal on metal contact. Probably a secondary issue caused by a worn lower engine/tranny mount. It was in my case anyway.
