Hi, I was wondering if someone who has changed the stereo out of a Justy could tell me what each of the wires are for in the plugs so that I can wire it properly. Here's a pic if it helps: Also I'll leave a reply format so it is easier to reply. FIRST PLUG black?: blue with red stripe?: red with blue stripe x2?: white with light blue stripe?: SECOND PLUG Grey?: Pinkish Peach coloured wire?: cremey white/yellowish coloured wire?: brown?: black with white stripe?: green with white stripe?: green?: black with red stripe?: PLEASE HELP, Thanks. ;D

take a test light and find the hot wire. Then find the ignition switched hot wire. Black is ground. Connect the stereo and turn it on. :PThen fiddle with the remaining wires and hook up the speakers using the balance and fader.

That sounds like something that could short out and blow something up.... I -know- there is a wire chart somewhere on these forums, or on a website. I'm going to look for it, i'll post as soon as I find it.

I have installed lots of stereos using this procedure. (not professionally) You definately don't need a schematic to wire a stereo. I just found the hot wires on mine and used new speaker wires, it is a small car you don't need that much and it is very easy to wire. A schematic is good to have, but I wouldn't touch wiring without a test light.

they do make a wire harness adapter's for the subaru instead of hacking up the wire harness it makes it alot easier if you ever want to install a different headunit in the future let me get you the part number and web site www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=103000&i=120701780&tp=2977Item #120701780 they are pre labled for which they go to power ign power and l/r speaker and so on it makes life alot easier i have had the fun fo fixing the rats nest after a friend or so decided to hack up the wiring to install an aftermarket stereo.

If you already cut the connector off:
The best way to check is (Items needed) Multi meter 9 volt battery First of all find your 3 leads: Use the volt meter to determine which is
Power: ("with ignition off" hold one of the leads on the volt meter on the ground then run through each wire till you get a complete circuit this is the power wire mark it with a piece of tape or a wire nut so you know which it is) this is always the first step and again the ignition switch is in the off position generally with the key removed.
Ignition Power: (In the hopes you have already found the power wire) (with the "ignition in the on position" hold one of the leads on the ground and as before run it across the wires till you get a closed circuit this is the power that is supplied when the ignition is in the on position) mark it with a different color tape or wire nut
Ground (it is black) this is black
Ok now this is how you test which speaker is which This is where you use the 9volt battery Speaker wires should be in pairs of the same color If not What you do assuming you have 4 speakers in the car (I only had 2)
Take 2 wires assuming they are the same color and use the positive and negative leads off the battery one wire on each. If wires are connected to the same speaker it should make a pop in noise continue this on the next 3 speakers marking off each pair so you know which is which
The other 2 wires are for Power antenna turn-on illumination (to check this turn your lights on with one lead on the ground run the multi meter across the 2 wires one should b a closed circuit to check if it is the illumination turn the lights off)
no the 9 volt battery shouldn't hurt the speakers due to car speakers are rated for 12 volts
