Has anyone installed any new gauges in any Justys? I have a '90 Justy, and I want to install (if I can find) new gauges, and possibly add Oil pressure and Battery power gauges. Is this possible to just install adapters that measure that? I looked on Ebay for them but there are only ones available for 92'+ legacys and imprezas and the like.
Anyone?

As for the oil pressure gauge, The oil pressure switch(factory) can be replaced with a 1/8"NPT barbed fitting, a hose(1/4" 50 psi), and a pressure gauge(0-60psi or so) installed in the ashtray. This idea has problems: -any leak in the hose or other will wreak havoc, -the loss of the dash oil pressure light, maybe it would be wise to install a tee and keep the pressure switch installed, stacks Hi stacks, The oil sending unit on my Justy's are a British Pipe Standard, 28 thread. That may be called British Standard Pipe. That's the female threads in the block, and the male threads on the factory sending unit. That's a hard fitting to locate here, but I got one at Walmart with a cheap gage. I didn't use the gage. I bought a 270 degree sweep, 0 to 80 psi gage on eBay. It's a 30 year old NOS Japanese gage. 0 to 50 or 60 psi gauges are out there but not common. Typical aftermarket gauges are 0 to 100 psi. I got a copper line kit at Advanced Auto, about $12.00. The cheaper gauges I've found come with the vinyl tubing, but it's not good quality. There is a difference there. I too would like to run a T and include the OEM oil pressure switch. I just haven't sourced the proper fitting yet. There are clearance issues with the oil filter and possibly accessory brackets. Doug

Hi revivemorrison, Long story short: yes it is possible to install the needed adaptors. There are a LOT of choices tho. What country are you typing from? Some of the choices: Digital, Analog display, electric of mechanical sending units, COST above all. Aftermarket gauges in my Justy are the mechanical oil pressure gage and a B&M transmission temperature gage for the ECVT. Those are the essentials for me. If I added another it would be water temperature. What are your thoughts on your gauges? Doug

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I'm typing from PEI, Canada.
I hope I'm understanding half of what everyone is suggested here, only a beginner for sure...
To Quidam: I would probably just go with standard analog display, that would end up being the cheapest as well I'm sure. Another question was if it is easy to install aftermarket gauges for the speed and tach, or if I would have search for aftermarket gauges that are close to the same as the justys, and then just fit them...
I don't have ECVT.
Water temp would be a nice one as well, though my standard 'engine temp' gauge seems to work extremely well (could be fine just going by that); I do a lot of mudding around/rallying (lots of red mud on PEI) and when I get stuck for a short while, I can see the temperature rise (revving at higher RPM then usual). As soon as I leave the mud, the engine cools off.
Any thoughts on a estimate of costs?

A neighbor bought a speedo for his Dune Buggy, Stewart Warner, cost him U.S. $160.00. Make sure the new tach will work with a 3 cylinder engine before you buy. Doug

Thats quite a $ for just a Speedo. I'll definitely be wary of what I'm buying in terms of compatibility. Thanks
