Anyone thought about this or tried it? I've been thinking about building a brush guard with driving lights and a small winch mount (like the ones made for ATVs) www.overstock.com/Sports-Toys/Grip-3500-pound-Electric-ATV-Winch/2189514/product.htmlThese things are fairly inexpensive and should have enough power to slowly pull a justy up a steep incline when it's not safe to hual a$$ (pedal to the metal!!!). I'm going to slowly put something together with scrap metal at my dad's place using his arc welder. I wish i had a mig welder for a cleaner look, but for a prototype, it should work. Any advice on the best location to mount this to the frame?

i wouldnt trust a winch that only coast 160 bucks. 3500 is max weight, you always want twice what your vehicle weighs for line pull strength

Always good advice to get something beefier!
Reminds me of the movie "the gods must be crazy," when the the jeep gets pulled up the tree.

My friend put a 2000lb champion canadian tire special winch on his and it's ok for a flat tow out on mud, ice, snow, etc. It was free and he has nothing but time so he put it on. It is way undersized but it hasn't let down yet. It's not going to pull you up a steep grade or up a tree but it comes in handy and is more about the excitement from other people seeing a winch and 4 budget rally lights on the front bumper of a econohatch.
