Thought I should take out the rear springs and test some other (want it harder), but got a problem with the shock absorber bolts. The first one doesn't wanna come off at all, so it got a little messed up, and the second one got loose, but then it just goes around not coming out.
Is there something on the back of the bolts maybe?

You the 2 lower bolts? size 14 i think it is.. When you are talking about those lower 2 bolts: Yes, at the back of the bolt there is a nut, try loosen that edit: Oh let me tell you how we replace the springs Just loosen the two nuts who are inside the car, then push the whole shock absorber down. Now you can grab the spring. If not, try to push the shock absorber further down. Much easier that way, those 2 bolts underneath the car sometimes wont come loose.

There are several ways to deal with chassis bolts that are likely to be rusted. If you have the planing before stripping the heads, first you can spray a penetrant/lubricant like a product called WD40 and let it sit for awhile to do its magic. Easy does it,use 1/2" drive long handled ratchet and use steady but firm force.Expeience knows when bolts are getting too much force and the heads are about to strip. Also it helps to use new correctly sized sockets. On the smaller bolts you can just try to break them by tightening them so that they break off and just buy new bolts.Or if you have access to a cutting torch, you can heat the bolt up, once it cools try again. This works cause it breaks the rust loose when the bolt cools.

Sweden, In agreement w/ gearheadh, but would trade a case of WD-40 for one can of this: www.ezgrip.net/pblaster.htm. Affectionately called 'weasel piss', it is a must-have. Definitely top 10 on my questionable chemical list. A couple alternating quick (your a bit close to the oil filled shocks on this one) heat (propane/butane torch) and cold (brake cleaner or chewing gum remover) couldn't hurt either. Good Luck and/or Skill,

As usual I agree with 89 but I wish I had chimed in sooner. The best penetrating oil I have found is made by SeaFoam and it is called Deep Creep. I have to disagree with Gearhead about how to break loose a stiff or seized fastener. Slow, steady twisting is not how to do it. Take it from a recovering British car addict, this will snap and round nuts & bolts better than Robin Thicke wets panties. What you want to do is shock them loose. You need to use an impact wrench. Have you ever had a stiff bolt that wouldn't go so you resort to pounding against the end of your ratchet with your hand or fist until the bolt loosens? Of course you have! It works

So, just to clarify, can you remove the rear springs just by undoing the top strut bolts? I have new springs, and I'm looking for the quickest and easiest way to install them!
