I have a funny problem, well not too funny depending on your tolerance level. The dinger that goes off when you leave your key in the ignition goes off intermittently when driving down the road. Sometimes will keep dinging for 5 minutes or so, then stop. Probably just a bad connection or something like that, but kind of annoying. I will probably just disconnect it. Anybody ever had this happen?

Had it happen while we were installing a stereo, we happened to have a knife handy which cut the wires, and i haven't had any problems with it since. ;D

Yep, Common problem! On the inside of the door jamb, down near the rocker panel at the base of the B pillar is a switch that controls the dome light and the key in ignition dinger. This is a normally closed switch..Meaning, when the door is open the switch is closed and the dome light is on and dinger is dinging! When you close the door the switch is opened and the dome light goes out and dinger stops. As the years go by the rubber boot that protects the switch from water, dirt, salt ETC. wears through and the switch does not fully break contact so at certain times the Dinger will ding. (Mine did it on bumpy roads) Check the rubber protector and switch on the drivers door jamb..If it is worn or damaged..Replace it or...as you said disconnect it. Result: No more Ding Good Luck!! Jim

i dont think we have the dinger in the uk, but i wouldnt know cos the door switch is broken on mine anyway and i have no light! there was something on the tele the other day about the States and their cars always beeping at the slightest thing....quiet funny actually but i dont think they will sell many over here because of it! the washing machine beep is bad enough.... while im here, before i remove the front wings from La Justy, do i need a grinder to undo any welding? i hope not because all i have is a spanner (my friend) and my tool box!

If by front wings you mean front fenders, then no grinding required, just bolts. There is seam sealer on the top edge (under the hood or bonnet).
I think I definitely have an issue with the door switch. Hasn't binged lately, but reading over your post, it got me to thinking. The dinger doesn't go off when the key is in the ignition and the door open. And my dome light doesn't work either. I'll have to check it out.

That's hilarious...
I thought I was the only one experiencing this problem. It was like you were being followed by an icecream truck!
The button definitely sticks... the button mounting area is also prone to corrosion.
Before you rip off your ding-ding... give the button a shot of WD-40 or even P'Blaster - it worked on one side for me.
Have fun playing with your ding-ding! ;D

So she wanted me to also tell ya all that we now have TINKERBELL floormats, steering wheel cover, and decals to decorate "her" with. She is probably gearing up so save the car for our daughter some day who is now 3 years old.
