No, a boxer will not fit in a Justy.

It is perfectly normal for your car to turn well over 3000RPM at freeway speed. The Justy has final drive gears ranging from 4.44:1 all the way up to 5.20:1 You can rest assured that if the oil level is full, your engine will not explode. The EF12 came with forged steel connecting rods to cope with the high demand and I have personally whipped my car at over 5000RPM for an hour straight. (ask me sometime about getting lost on I-90 in Eastern Washington) You might want to change your gear oil in the transmission sometime and avoid really fast gear changes. Good luck!

I agree with Seattle, my '90 2wd, I got 33 was my highest befor I sold it, It has a little issue that if fixed might have got it up to 35, but again, it was a 2wd, a little lighter than yours. 27 is probably doing alright, in my opinion...

try the normal tuneup including cap and rotor. thats about all you can do if it's in good shape. check timing as well.

In 91 you could get a carb or fuel injection.. the fuel injected ones get better mileage. The carbs on Justy's are somewhat problematic and can cause "poor" mileage if not tuned properly. Although 27mpg isn't exactly poor. -Terry

In 91 you could get a carb or fuel injection.. Really,...why on earth would Subaru sell Justys with either carbs or EFI as options in the same year ? I didn't know the carbed cars were sold into the 90's. I would be stunned if my EFI Justy got 27 mpg...geez, when mine drops below 40 mpg I know that something is amiss and needs attention.

OK...you are right, after I researched a little bit. EFI was first introduced in 1990, and the base model DL had the carburetor through 1992. In '93 all the Justys had EFI...in the USA of course. I don't know about the rest of the world ;D. Imagine buying a car in 1992 with a carburetor!...must have been one of the last in NA.

Well, when the Justy's carb is in good working order, it's not a bad carb. You can drive on a cold engine and have good power until it warms up, then everything smooths out. This is how my car was for a while, now its starting to turn into poop. Oh well. -Terry
