Hi,
I've got a small electrical issue. When I turn on the side lights they come on as expected then a few seconds later the headlights come on aswell but really dim. The headlights and full beam work as normal. The problem occurs either using the stalk control or the small switch on top of the steering wheel. If you turn either switch on and off really fast the main lights do not come on.
What is going on and where should I look?

Its a UK spec car. The small side lights can be switched on in poor visibility when you don't need full lights. Normally I have no lights at all if the weather is clear.

Dan, Sounds like it might be a grounding problem ...not sure if there is a wire or if grounded to chassis, but clean all mounting hardware. Side lights (parking lights here in US) are probably grounding through headlamps causing dim light. Steve

Another possibility ...didn't the UK at that time require dim/dip front lighting for city night driving? Perhaps your Justy is operating normally (unless of course this problem occurred suddenly) and was specially wired for dim/dip, where the headlights operate in concert with the sidelights but at a reduced brightness.

Fuji gets top marks for an overly complicated system; We switch the positive on the parking lights yet we switch the negative on the headlights. So dim headlights, eh??? Sounds like they're running in series; 6 volts each. The headlights circuit will complete itself(with lights in series) if lights switch is on either and: -illumination control unit (RG) and (B) are internally shorted, -the 2 clock wires are shorted ( B and RY), -Lighting switch is faulty, Do you have clock, Does illumination control system work properly? stacks Yes I have a clock but each time you turn off the ignition it resets to 1:00. All the dash illuminates fine. One way I can turn off the headlights but keep the side lights on is to turn the switch on top of the steering column on and off several times. Where should I be looking for the shorts?
