I looked for over a year for a justy motor. With promises in other states from dealers and shipments in japan that came once every four months I said screw it. The local japanese mechanic after a month found one and then another month put it in over problems with a cracked head and using the old one. And the wait on parts.
So here is my problem. The pan leaked oil from day one. I took it to the mechanic. And so far and he fixed it twice and it leaked when I got it home and ever since. Using just the gasket sealant. He told me that the factor never used oil pan gaskets but when I call up napa or schucks they said they have them in stock so are they the same ones? Never again unless its a have to will I ever deal with another mechanic for as long as I live.
Another problem is my heater stopped working blows great but I was thinking it was a thermostat. Here the mechanic said not likely. It is probably internal.. I swear hitting my head and he came highly recommended. Where does this thing go I looked in the book and no clue. Only thing i have done to it was replace the rotors repacked the bearings. Only reason why I am dealing with this guy still is over.. the whole under warranty and I dont have a shop. And what I got bent over at the counter on paying him. squeak

According to what I have seen, the earlier year Justys used gaskets & the latter years, like my '94, just sealant.

Thanks for the information. Estaban I just have never heard of a car never having it. I would think it would work but if a pan is warped it would be a tough thing. Especially I had a ford courier with a bent valve cover and the thing would leak all the time even with a gasket.
