Ok got home and had the emergency break on and in first gear. Over i live on a big hill. An hr later went back too the car. Put it in reverse and it wont come out and even when putting the clutch too the floor it will not move. I even pulled it forward a little with my f350 now i have no trans.. for work even the truck is blocked in. Any points i am stumped on this one. I never had this problem. Was it due too when the mechanic putting in the new motor? robert

Try pusing it backwards with your foot on the clutch... or...
Hmm...
Dunno trannys gunna go anyway, maybe kick it out of reverse or something so you can at least move the car.

It may be stuck in two gears, for instance....When you had it in 1st gear on a steep hill it may have torque locked the 1st gear blocking ring to the 1st speed gear cone. Then, when you shifted into reverse the trans locked up...Pushing it with the clutch engaged and the trans locked in 2 gears will bust the teeth off the trans gears in the blink of an eye!! But,....Even with a trans locked in 2 gears you should be able to push the car with the clutch disengaged (Pushed to the floor). If the car will not move with the clutch disengaged the clutch may not be disengaging completely...Most likely cause for this is one of the clutch hub damper springs has popped loose and is stuck between the clutch disc and flywheel. This happened to me!!! How does the clutch pedal feel??? Is it harder than normal to push to the floor?? Check the clutch fork travel (Movement) while someone pushes down on the clutch..If it only moves an inch or so it is binding. A clutch damper spring can pop loose if the vehicle is parked on a steep hill under torque if the clutch disk hub has fatigue cracks in the spring area...How old is the clutch?? Was it replaced when you did the engine?? I can help you diagnose but, I need more info. Jim

Well i lucked out jim.. I hope i did my truck was in front of the car so i pulled the justy so the transmission didnt have any weight on her.. I tried this three times last night. And got under the car pulling the fork back got in the car and pulled the the shifter a few times and then out she came. Is there other damage that could have occured? It did have a hard clutch. Just was the strangest thing. I have owned standard transmissions all my life. I never ran into this problem before. robert
