My car is driving me crazy. It oversteers. I accelerate and it pulls one way. Hold speed and it's fine. Let off the gas and it pulls the other way. I know it needs but I don't think they're that bad. Nothing visibly loose? Any clues out there?

Un-aligned? or maybe manual steering, and not power steering, i have manual and it always is hard to stay turned when accelerating, or maybe a combination of both?

Sounds like torque steer under hard acceleration. ALL cars with un-equal length axle shafts are susceptible to this problem. Especially Gen 1 Justys and the base model Gen 2s with unequal shafts.
Unfortunately, The only way to fix it in a Justy is to upgrade to the equal length shafts used in 90-92 Justy GLs and all 93-94 Justys. These cars were fuel injected and used special mounting pads cast onto the block to attach the intermediate shaft bearing assembly. The carbureted blocks did not have this provision so......It makes converting a pain!!!
Damn the bean counters!!!

I've got a 90 EFI. I had it up on my little homemade ramp and I didn't see anything obvious. The front tires are about out of tread. The back are fine. The shocks are bad, but it doesn't bounce up and down as it goes down the road like my daughter's Jetta did when her shocks went out. I can't afford shocks all around but I can probably swing 4 new 175/60R13's to replace the stock tires. I hope they won't hit on the fenderwells. Would bald tires make it go crazy like that ?

yeah it probably could. if you have different grip on lthe left or right corners of the car it will cause the vehicle to go the way it grips more.
tyre pressures?
i found when the anti-roll bars came detached (front or rear) it did similar, but with that the whole car changes when you drive, and you get nasty clonking sounds, spin outs and heart failure...

Check the rubber bushings, they tend to do that when they wear away or get torn. With unequal shafts, I get torque steer only in the wet, or when I really give it gas under turbo boost. Otherwise, it does not have enough HP to torque steer like you mentioned. Just check your alignment, steering rack and the bushings, your problem should be there...

"...you get nasty clonking sounds, spin outs and heart failure..." - baron ;D Not very funny when it happens on a wee bit of slush at 50mph... always check those rubbers out before using them. I think some of you blokes had some luck with universal urethanes, no? Also check out your tie rod ends - we found one was actually bent/twisted! (Probably some undisclosed 'Off-Road' run by the previous owner)... the tie rods are still available for around $20USD a side - worth it. Safe Roads, #891989 Subaru JUSTY RS 4WD 122, 299 miles
