I would like to suggest you look into a vintage set off of a BMW 2002, They are the right bolt pattern, 5.5 in wide and 14inch in dia. Which is still plus one or two from factory. There is a wide variaty of low profile tires available in the 14inch size and because these rims are aluminum the weight is lower. However the center hole is too small and must opened up to fit over the hub.

Hold on a sec with those German wheels. The Justy's lugnuts are 60-degree conical for the cone seats of a normal wheel. Most German wheels have ball-seats. You can't just slap on most German wheels and use regular lugnuts. You have to use ball-seat lugnuts like those from a Honda but those won't thread onto the Justy wheel studs because the thread pitch is differen't. If you want more information on how to convert your car, P.M. me. I have done this conversion to my car.

To bmxer882 and anyone else interested in a possible alternative to the stock steel 13 inch rims......I had some conversations with SEATTLEJUSTY via I.M. After his last post here over his claim that the BMW rim was not suitable due to as he claimed: a difference in how the lug nut surface mates up to the rim. Most vehicle rims use a surface of a 60-degree conical cut on the rim to mate up to the lug nuts corresponding 60-degree conical surface. From what I can gather, SEATTLEJUSTY had a hellish expierence of trying to make a set of STEEL 15 inch VW front wheel drive rims fit. They have as do mercedes and porshe a spherical or ball shaped surface between the stud and wheel. To make a long story short there is no nuts available to adapt these ballstud rims to a conical type setup. So here is the rub, Because of his expierence with these VW rims he took it on himself to assume that as he put it ALL german cars use the ballstud system. So I did some research on my own, (something you are all welcome to do yourself's)and found that BMW has not and near as I can tell has never used the ball stud setup!.The rims that I have in my garage are as mentioned above 5.5inch's wide, alumunum and with almost no offset.unlike the FRONTWHEEL drive steel rims SEATTLEJUSTY chose. This will ensure clearance from the car as the wider rim is not located inboard. The model they came from is the BMW 2002 sedan produced from 1967 to 1977. They have BMW cast into them near the center and have a honeycomb or simulated wire spokeish apperance. I believe they came on the newer as in 74 and up models.there is an after market company that deals in new and fancy lugnuts that can set you up with nuts that have the right thread and a nice wide 60-degree conical taper to help mount these puppies up!. Thankyou.

Gearheadeh was kind enough to point out that in a sea of Porsche, Mercedes, VW, Audi, German car manufacturers that use ball-seats, I made an oversight about BMW wheels. I think the point here isn't so much about BMWs as it is the importance of using the correct equipment when mismatching parts with your car that were not MADE for your car. I would also like to point out that my wheels are 13" not 15's as stated above and that using a front wheel drive wheel on a FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CAR is actually a good idea (for obvious reasons). If the offset is correct the offset is correct.

Take it easy my dudes... we're all on the same team here... resurrecting unloved, tired motor vehicles... hopefully getting a kick or two out of it. ;D Seattle's good peeps - he gets frustrated some - but mostly at outlandish speculations (e.g. V12 Mercedes engine swaps into a JUSTY). I think he is trying to save new JUSTY owners unneccessary investment of time and/or $ 'relearning' basic challenges. All in all he is a valuable source of info and humor. gearhead, I still think a number of 14 inch and up wheels would look great on our beloved 3 bangers. I believe you had mentioned that the Bimmer rims you had in mind were a 14" size. The BMW 114 chassis (includes model 2002s and variants) came only with 13" stock wheels, including the tii (injected) and rare turbo versions (had a 13" option with 6 inch width available). Any plus sizing you see on these vintage BMW 2002s is aftermarket or swapped from later model BMWs, typically the E30 chassis (325s, 318s, etc). I have not had a chance to attempt sliding one on yet myself, but believe it is at least a millimeter smaller on the center hole. Here is a picture of my other adoption... one of the BMW 2002s that gearhead was mentioning. It was my first rear wheel drive experience about a decade ago (love at first grind!) It is approaching a 3rd attempt at roadworthyness as time and $ allow... (I originally paid $795 in running but somewhat see-through -rusty- condition). Nice Wishes,

Keep in mind when you step up to wheels that big, it is going to make a noticeable dent into both your fuel consumption and your acceleration. The best kind of weight to shed is the kind that spins and the worst kind to add...you guessed it, is the kind that spins. With a paltry 66HP carby and 73HP EFI the Justy doesn't have many ponies to spare. Any 15" wheel is gonna weigh more than the Justys 12 or even the 13's but what's worse is the 15" tires. Those tires are what's really gonna add the pounds. Do your homework and buy thoughtfully.

I purchased my Justy a couple of weeks ago. I've been looking for a snazzier set of wheels, but I've decided not to try to go up in size mainly due to this thread, lol. I've been looking around ebay and such and got myself a set of 12" Subaru Justy alloys (brand new, supposedly) They're not great looking, but I'm not going to have to worry about any freaking fitment issues either. I'll post some pics when I get 'em. I appreciate the info fellas. Now, what would be the best tire size to put on my new rims? I was thinking of some 155/80R12 sized tires. Good choice? yea or nay? suggestions?

Won't have any trouble fitting them, you can pick 'em up for $35 each and you'll still have good acceleration and great gas mileage. Good job and looking forward to some great pictures of your wheels.

I`ve been trying to land a set of those 12" factory aluminum wheels off of EBAY also. I tried to get the set that was "offer a bid" and they countered with a lowered price, but not low enough for my wallet considiring the shipping cost.
Curious, what did you give for yours with shipping so that in the future I will know what they are going for?

Small world, I'm guessing that I got the same wheels that you were looking at. They're silver with ten spokes with a big ole round center cap. They wanted $99.00 with the buy it now for each one. I offered $45.00 for each of the 4 he had. I really didn't think he would go for it, but he did. I ended up paying for all 4 rims with center caps for $254.00 shipped to the house. Pretty good deal, as I ran across the same rims for $207.00 a piece somewhere. I had been looking at these wheels on ebay also, but I won the stockers instead. I wasn't too sure about the lugnut issue with these wheels either: cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180142510917&rd=1

Oooooh, these are 13X5.5"! Assuming that the offset is suitable, these wheels will fill up your wheel-wells very nicely. You can shod these with 175/70R13 rubber confidently within your wheel opening.

Thems NICE. I would gold them. How about the center hole it looks a bit small. Would have to mess it up a bit, probably.

I remember those 12" wheels. I was wondering where they went. Of course a member of this board snagged them...GOOD JOB.
