Does anyone know where to get a speedometer cable?? or how it works... when we pulled the engine out of the justy the speedometer cable pulled out of its shell and it now just dangling from the tranny...is there anyway to fix it? or should i get a new one?? please help

its hard to say...i dont know if they are available in aftermarket? my big problem whit those is the stupid plastic bolt they use to tite in on the tranny ? i always strip it usualy the otter end of the cable is less trouble...it plug rigth on the speeddometer....behind the dash...

Often with a bit of work you can slide the the cable back into the casing, careful not to kink it as you push it along.

I just pulled my engine from the 89ECVT to put in my 90 5-speed 4WD with oil pump problems. Anyway, the last thing I disconnected was the Speedometer cable. After I mangled the plastic end on the ecvt, I got out the bolt cutters and clipped it off. It was painless and I felt good about it. I'll be ready for the 5-speed . Think penetrating oil might help before I try the dashboard side?

Just pull the gauge cluster out away from the dash and squeeze the plastic release tab on the end of the cable. It should come apart with no effort!
