you know the cage doesnt' need to be 1.75 x 0.120 DOM right???
The main hoop and a-pillar bars need to be 1.75 x .095
and the rest of it can be 1.5 x 0.95
You could have saved yourself a PILE of weight, and a decent amount of cash

Yeah it ended up being .095 wall, and We used 1.5 diam for sill bars etc. Man it's tough though! I'll bet I could drive of the CN tower and walk away... Well at least if the impact shock didn't kill!

Matt for the front coil over...im 90% shure that you will need the afco small shock body sleeves...the regular one are to big. the one i have are all trash out...so i needed to replace them and i havent found any that wer small enoug...im pretty shure those are the one we need...i guess i should call them and ask what in the diameter...and if the price is for 2 or just one ? also...im pretty shure it will be cheaper to get them true out local distributors... but we can always look there for parst # www.secureperformanceorder.comIm starting to have douts about my springs to be 160lbs ? since they are afco...and they dont have 160? im pretty shure i recal seing a 150 ritten somewere on them ?....i will checl as soone as the rain stop. i wonder is 175 would be to much ?

Oups...this is the good url... www.secureperformanceorder.com/afcostore/getsubclasses.cfm?ClassID=223&CategoryID=17i took my front springs out of the old justy...they are 10" tall...2"5/8 ID. but for the weigt....the only number on them is on one of them only and its a 300 that look like was hand made ? i dont think it mean my springs are 300lbs each...LOL one thing is that to use those springs whit the small sleeve it need a adaptor ring...so i guess the best bet is to go whit the small dia springs. I will get some new one for the front as well..that way i will have all fresh meat on the new car and some spair coil over struts ready to go at service. i talk to many pleople and 10" for the rear should be good. so 10" small dia + small shock body coil over for the front 10" 2 5/8 + regular coil over sleeve for the rear we just need to figure out the weigth we need.

i believe the small body shock coil overs are too small.
If you look at the stock Subaru units. you need to get over the "washer" at the top ofthe strut body, which is like 1.98 Inches...
What i'd recommend. get a large body kits. Drill and tap them in about 4 places and throw some set-screws in to just keep the sleeve centered on the strut.

those "washer" top cap thing need to be pop out...
very easy...and press it back in after(hammer)...i did it on my old set and it was very easy...
just have to double check whit afco if its the good diameter...
the ones i have are just a litle bigger then the strut...one layer of electrical tape around the struts made the sleeve tite in place.
if you really dont have the choise but using the big sleeve...you will have to machine some sleeve to go between them....thats the rally safe way to do it. remeber that you will beat the crap out of this car..and the supension are getting most of those impact...even whit the justy we manage to get almost 4.5...5 feet up the air at some places... also...most rally use COMPLETELY farcleUP roads...its unbeleavable!!..some place im shure they are using winter skidoo track? strange feeling the first time you get in one of those " are you shure we are still on the stage ?"
so...what weigth of spring do you suggest ? the double it theory is a bit hardcore for the justy i think ? if my front coils are 160?(wish afco dosent make so6 they most be 150 or 175?) i would go for 175lbs up front...if we do the mat we can get the same X factor to have the rear pretty match up ?
i can not find confirmation of your # on the spring weigth anywere? you are VERY lucky to have those shop manual....my dealer/sponsor have them..but they are lost somewere in there wearhous....i dont think they will ever get back to me whit those info.... and my friend hoo sold me the justy...wish is a Subaru Thecnicient at a otter dealer...have the same problem...

well...you don't want to go too stiff, because you will be under dampened, and you will bounce all over the place. And look like a RICER!!!
Anyways here are the specs:
Front: Spring = 118 lb/in Damping force = 133 lb expansion, 66 lb compression
Rear: Spring = 235 lb/in Damping Force = 88 lb expansion, 55 lb compression

One thing that mite be suprising for any one getting a ride in a rally car is how stiff the suspension are...wen we look at them they all seam to land very smooth and all...but pfff...its just what it look like from the out side...for winter rally we go alot softer to alow more traction and more weight transfer...but fo summer gravel road...its stiff as hell...im pretty shure its as stiff as what they use on track ? mite be wrong...but? impretty shure... the biggest problem we ad whit jumps is the second one we get on the rebound....it kind of sucks....at Baie the rebound jump on the big finish jump was almost half as hi the the actual jump it did not happen at all the jump only that one actulaly ?....its mostly depend on how we launch and land......but thats one thing i definatly want to improve....getting better damper should do it... but that will whait untill next season...

Ok...so i did some second grade math...
if my front coils are 175lbs (they mite be 150 ? the guy told me they were 160 from afco ? and afco dosent make 160? so its 150 or 175? i rather try 175 i will get new one any way.)
if your numbers are good....to get from 118 to 175 you have to multiplie it by 1.4830508475.
so from 235lbs(rear stock) x 1.4830508475 = 348.516 so we would need some 350lbs rear coils for rally ?
175lbs front and 350lbs rear .
any comment on this ? would it be to much or not enoug ? I will ask around what otter people think.

Ok...well the dude a afco told me that 350lbs in the rear would be way to stiff...and that 275lbs would be more like it. he also gave me the internal dia of the small coil over sleeve and its 1.670 or 1.679 im not shure wich one but i dont think its much of as difference any way....so ? will it fit ?

They ain't gonna fit man.
I just went and measured...the strut is 1.7985" or 45.69mm
You are going to have to use the larger sleeves, then find some pipes or something to use as a shim.
And yes...i believe that those spring rates would be correct.
The reason the rear is so stiff, is because the spring is half way in on the control arm, meaning it needs twice as much force as if it was at the end.
And for the struts....gimme till tomorrow.. i might have a way to get you a little more dampening. I believe that Loyale struts will fit up front...and i'm going to make something up to make them fit in the rear.

cool let me know about thos Loyal struts...
for the rear it sould be easy to get bilstein for ford escort GT and weld a new braket to match the holes...
I just havent found the car that have front shock that we coudl use to do the same trick? i havent really look for it...but this would help alot...at 170$ a shock? im shure i can get bilstein for not to much more...
