What are the differences between the EFI and Carb distributors?

I'll elaborate:
Just the EFI distributor housing (new) is $211 from Subaru. The carburetor distributor housing is cheaper. A retailer online is selling rebuilt, complete distributors for $110 without exchange or shipping, but they use the same part number for both the EFI and Carb. So are the housings universal? My EFI distributor doesn't have anything special on the outside of the housing, does the carb one have any components mounted to the housing? I can't imagine that the mounting ears, coupling, housing, etc. are different. Its OK if the electronics inside it are different as long as I can transfer the EFI parts into it.

My Justy has breaker point ignition, and I tried to change the distributor cap for the electronic version. I bought one at ebay, and it turned out that both the rotor and the cap were screw-on. Mine are clipped, and the EFI engine distributor cap is about 2/3 shorter. So I swapped these parts for something else at the local dealer. I still need a new rotor though... I guess the gearing for the distributor shaft would be the same, but there can be differences in mounting options. The old one has vacuum and centrifugal advance, and the housing has an angle adjuster scew to retard/advance timing.
