sometime when i park on a slope and pull up the hand brake the car is still movin i have to pull it afr up like mi a pop it off and sometimes it still running off. right now i just avoid parking on slopes or what i do is a park in gear. that is if the car is parked going up a hill i put it in 1st gear so it doesn't run back or if i'm parked going down a hill i put it in reverse. ;D. is there anything i could do to adjust the hand brake so it holds?

I have found that when my rear brake shoes need changing or the rear brakes needs cleaning and adjusting the same thing happens. If the cable adjusting doesn't do the trick try these. The cable is definitely easier to do.

The rears are drums, so they may well be an adjuster on the back plate of the drum. Without taking your wheel off, have a look at the drum from underneath the car, you may well see an adjuster which will probably be 3/8 square, and positioned at about 4 o clock on the back plate, by rotating this a small amount it will adjust the drum shoes, to take up the wear of the pad material. Hope that makes sense Paul M

Have been doing my own brakes since buying this car. No external adjustments are on the '94 1000. Every time they need adjusting the drum has to come off along with the wheel bearings. The adjustment is a rachet system on the left shoe. The Nissan is so much easier and less greasy....yuck!!!
