I need to replace my cat. converter. It took a big hit from a rock and now has a large dent in it and rattles like crazy. An upside to it though is that now I can replace it with a high flow cat that is made specifically for the justy. ;D

maybe you could just get a used cat at the scap yard and empty it whit a hammer and a screwdriver ?
mite not be the most environemantal freindly...but it will give you alot more boost than any cat...and will cost you alot less...

one of my friends has an old muscle car(1978) and he has had the cats removed. That thing stinks. He doesn't have any exhaust leaks either.

Its standard procedure in the UK, to get more insant power is to drop the cat out, and then put it back for the MOT test. Dont recall them being more smelly, then cars with cats. maybe its your mate who's smelly and not the car !

Well it turns out that I don't need to replace the cat. The amount of space between the heat shield and the cat saved me. The cat barely has even a ding in it. Last night with me great machining skills I hammerd the heat shield back into shape and I am going to have the cracked parts welded back together.

keep in mind that emptying the cat will only give you one more HP. At least the carbed justy has 67HP with cat and 68HP without.

when I removed my manifold for a port polish, I was stunned to see about 1/4 of the cat converter had actually melted, and clogged the holes. I took my time with the long screwdriver and broke off all the remaining stuff in there, and boy it makes a difference! The car is much better revving, especially in the top end. I should have done it sooner. I don't know why, but I can still pass the exhaust test. I tried to run it without the exhaust once, and it is terribly loud (no suprise here) and it actually loses power. But it is fun to see sparks and flames flying when you back off the throttle. With the short exhaust pipe, I could see flames 1metre long! ;D
