Please Help I have a 93 Subaru Justy,ECTV and the clutch temp warning is on even after I start the engine and it is running. Any advice? I don't know if I can still drive this car with this warning light on, the nearest dealer is 300km far away from my place and I don't know if it safe to drive that far. Please advice Also the (number 8) fuse (15A) for my signal light and grear shift lock shorted all the time The guy where i bought my car had put 25A, i did not notice it until I brought it home. Anyone can help me? Thanks

I hope somebody can help with this issue as I now have this same problem. The overtemp light comes on as soon as you start the car, even in below zero weather! So there is no way it is actually over temp!! Surely somebody out there has had this problem besides the two of us who posted here! One local fellow thinks it is the brushes. I am going to replace them in either case, as the car now has over 30 thousand miles on it. A different fellow suggests I replace the "somethingorother Valve". He says it will fix the problem. I am not so sure. If anybody out there has fixed this situation, PLEASE post here for us !! Thanks !!

I only got the clutch light once, and that was when I was pushing the car on a deep gravel road for over 2 hours with the 4WD on.

My 1992 Justy is doing the same crap! The clutch temp light starts blinking before I can even get out of the driveway, so it has not had time to get warm yet! Is there a sensor that could have gone bad? How does the brain box know what temp the clutch is ? Somebody out there who has the service books needs to help us out with this, PLEASE !

hi. I have the same warning light on my dash.
Is it actually a clutch "temperature" warning though? I thought it had to do with the ECVT. I.e., to notify of errors in the transmission.
I know mine blinks in different patterns. I brought it into the transmission specialist, and they translated the blinking into the following 3 error codes:
14- RANGE SWITCH OPEN OR SHORTED 25- SLOW CUT SOLENOID OPEN OR SHORTED 32- TPS SIGNAL ABNORMAL
Maybe that helps for you..

if someone could post the error code reference guide (or whatever its called) for the "ECVT Warning light", that would be really helpful.
I know (atleast am pretty sure) that you can translate the blinking into numbers by the long shorts that it does.
"longs" = 10's digit "shorts" = 1's digit
2 longs and 2 shorts = 22

ECVT I just figured out this light will come on when the little switches attached to the gas pedal are disconnected or not working right. they should be "normaly closed" there are 2 of them.

it appears, that the brain box measures the electrical resistance of the clutch coil. If the clutch temp increases, the resistance will rise. A certain minimm resistance triggers then the warning light switch. Even with cold engine and clutch, if the clutch sliprings ( contact rings for the brushes) are oiled up, the resistance will also rise and the box thinks that the clutch temp has risen. How to resolve this issue without stripping engine and gearbox is described in the post ( ECVT mystery solved 20 Dec. 2009, hangwaiter ) This worked for my Justy, hope it works for yours as well.
