Justymen--
My dash lights have been gradually going dim over the last year or so, and it's time for an inspection. Again. So I tore into the dash and found six small bulbs ( Toshiba V-2 stamped on the bulb holder thingy ) bad, and none of the 4 larger bulbs with blue lights worked either. One was missing, which might have affected the circuit on the PCB board.
Well, it's just amazing how much those little buggers cost ( $ 8 bucks up for the little ones and about $4 bucks for the big ones. Go figure. )
The main issue though is where you can find them. It's the old 'bait and switch' dealio....."This fits your Justy".... But when you go to the site, it's " Oh NO---this is for a jeep or Ford or some other excuse for a good car."
One dealio that looked good was for a 10-pack of GE 74 bulbs ( 1.4 watts, same as number etched on the glass of the original ones ), but the originals seem to be glued into the holders. Not sure how to use those GE parts. Are they glued in?
If anyone on the forum can give me some advice about this, I will be grateful.
OH---and also, is it possible to bypass the dimmer and just run full bright dash lites. Any specifics re wires to jumper, etc will also be appreciated.
Oh--and one last question. Does anyone know what is inside the "illumination control unit?" Maybe a transistor? If so, there's no need to pay $90-100bbucks for one when a $5 buck transistor would do the job.

Thanks to any one who can help me keep my 'best car ever' ( '89 GL hatch 4WD ) going a little longer.
( I'm sorry if this is a duplicate post. I need help now if possible. Thanks. )
