Ok, so I have entered into the world of the Justy. I have an 88' GL as daily, and have always envied my friends badass Justy. So when a guy at a bar offered me a free 1989 4wd Justy I jumped on it. Only problem, it didn't have an engine, or fuel system (including fuel tank) because it was previously converted to electric (long story). The rest of the car (including the entire driveline) is mint. No rust, and about 100k miles. I recently picked up another 1989 4wd gl with a bad interior and some body rust for $600, the motor runs well, and is carb'd.
My question is, if my motorless justy was originally EFI (also, how can I easily tell? For some reason, it never occurred to me to try to figure out the original fuel delivery, but I will look into it later today when i'm done work) how difficult will it be to swap in the carb engine? What should I look out for? Do I need to replace the wiring harness/ECU?

I don't think the swap will be hard, I've had my engine and trans out a bunch now. The wiring will be diffrent, I had a carbed version and I didn't mind working on it much.
EFI versions are way way better, just stop and look for an EFI head and you would have more fun finishing it, expecially if your car still has the wiring. if it was Electric, and your rebuilding most of it. Consider an engine swap with some thing you can get parts for. I'm just lucky subaru Justys where popular in BC, so I know I'll find another Justy. However if it's already rare, I don't see the harm in say swapping in a 4wd transverse 4 banger with a turbo. I mean if there isn't any thing in the engine bay, max your BEST friends credit cards and go nuts. Listen to the internets... BEAMS or a K series? Maybe the first SR20 Justy? More HPs that you can dyno are promised on Ebay parts and a neglected friends open paypal, no disaster awaits just indulge in the JDM... LOL
Sorry about the swap tangent, but you'll need lots of other bits first and then you'll need to find certain parts for the carbs wiring. There are EFI second Gen to carbed First gen swaps on this forum that can explain it. Guy who sold me an engine wrote one of them. I don't think it's too hard, other than finding all the bits
