Hello everybody,
Finally my first post on this great forum. Awesome to see that I'm not the only one who loves the good old Justy
But unfortunately my Justy broke a couple of weeks ago. The engine would just randomly stall while driving. In the beginning I could fire it up again after turning the key completely to the left first, but eventually that wouldn't work anymore. At first I thought it was the ignition module because it fits the story and I was told these go bad a lot. But there was one thing I couldn't place: the fuel pump kept running when the engine stalled and the check engine light didn't came on.
Now it doesn't fire up anymore and when I turn the key to the right the fuel pump sometimes doesn't run, sometimes it does. And when it does it keeps going until I shut it off. Also the engine light doesn't come up anymore. In the beginning when he wouldn't start and the fuel pump kept running I sometimes would hear a click and the check engine light would come on (what's normal when I put the key on 'on'). Then he would fire up! This would last for a couple of minutes until he stalled again.
At that moment I thought that it couldn't be the ICM because as far as I could see it doesn't give any feedback (except for the tachometer), so the fuel pump and check engine light problem had to be something else.
I opened the ECU and I found a leaking capacitor! This had to be the problem. Unfortunate it burned a bit through the PCB... I hope I can fix that.
Can anybody tell me if the leaking capacitor fits the story? Because sometimes he would run and sometimes he wouldn't. And would it be possible to fix this or is the board completely fried already?
Also, I can't find any other ECU for the 1.0 L engine. If anybody has one, please let me know! I did find ECUs for the 1.2 L engine, will this work? The connections look te same. Or will it be possible to swap the "memory module" of the ECUs?
Or does something like a universal ECU for a carbed engine exist?
Hope someone could help me!
