Brushes look OK I think do they need voltage or amps to disengage ?

I hope this is of some help. I just went through something similar... This may help if you are also having some electrical issues.such as all dash lights not working or the shift indicator not lighting up the "D" or "L' Or "R" (on the dash) when selected.
The clutch as you know is electric. It gets it's "signal" to engage/disengage from the "computer". The computer relies on accurate input. I was unable to figure out where it gathered it's input but figured it had to be from the speedometer, gear selector, throttle position sensor etc. *IF* you are experiencing electrical issues then start by taking each electrical connector apart (console where the shifter is - very important) plus all the behind dash connectors. Take them apart, spray them with contact clear or similar and click 'em back together. That solved every clutch problem that I have been plagued with for the last year. That includes the CLUTCH TEMP light that would go on and off when it felt like it. Unfortunately it also stared to stall just about every time it came to a stop. That started suddenly. I had the above done and like I said it worked like magic - for one day. The transmission drive belt snapped just yesterday..... lots of buzzing noises, no go. I'm guessing that stalling out the engine the 6 or so times it happened was too much for the belt. I could write a small book on how much time has been spent trying to get the bugs out. Oh Well.... anyone wanna but a Justy? I give up.

Oh Well.... anyone wanna but a Justy? I give up. ... update: I did not give up. After contacting a former Justy mechanic (and buying a parts car from him)..... We did the pressure test on the trans. No go. That meant the splined drive shaft for the trans pump was not working. The shafts "spacing" that is what keeps it from letting go and popping out of the pump is a small "C" clip. Mine was broken, the shaft backed out of the pump and made a racket something like a bicycle chained being dragged across a metal garbage can. "Milt" (Justy Mechanic) has a fix for this. He made up a "collette" (sp?) a small (8mm or so) barrel that fits over the shaft. The side of the barrel is drilled/tapped for a set screw. That he claims will solve the C clip issue. He also told me a broken belt is very rare as they are very very tough. So! Once again Ruby is back on the road after 10 months, and once again I am remined what a great little car this is. If she doesn't present any more challenges in the next month or so she will be rewarded with a fresh paint job. In the meantime.... parts for sale... and a further update! Sept/2021 - Ruby is still on the road and going strong. My daily driver, still gets +40Mpg! Was pulling the tranny twice worth it? Yes, for sure. She is getting a fresh paint job next week. Have to find those graphics...
