I found a 89 2wd justy for next to nothing with a bad tranny. Had a few manual transaxles and donor cars available so I swapped the the ecvt for a manual. Went pretty smooth, except the idle increased about 1200. It was idling around 900 before I swapped the trannys, and after the swap the idle climbed to around 2100. I didn't pull the intake manifold or modify anything with the carb, so I suspect the computer is confused about the transmission status and is causing the increased idle. But that's just wild guessing... anyone have a theory about this or suggestions for how to remedy it? Or has anyone done this swap before and would know more about if this issue is tranny related or something else? Thank you for your consideration...
I turned the idle down with the carb adjustment, and everything seems fine. Idles and runs fine, all seems well. Not sure what happened... maybe the idle was high before, but I didn't let the choke open fully when I checked the idle speed.
Anybody need any parts from a ecvt/shifter that slips? Or the starter motor? Hate to throw it away if anyone needs any of it...

I would check for vacuum lines being off, or the idle-up solenoid staying engaged.

Check that the throttle cable is seated at the firewall... it just slips into the "bung" in the firewall, and is easy to have the cable casing get caught and not fully seat inside the bung. This effectively puts 1/2" of tension on the throttle cable.
Just a thought, as it's caught me up a couple times.
